The Sustaining Theatre and Dance (STAND) Foundation is an independent, non-profit and public benefit entity created by individuals within the sector to nurture, promote and celebrate contemporary South African dance and theatre.
As STAND Foundation, our aims are centered around developing a vision for the dance and theatre ecosystems in South Africa, raising funds to support contemporary South African dance and theatre elements across various domains, managing comprehensive databases of workers within the industry, undertaking research initiatives, and building capacity through training programmes, establishing networks of supportive individuals and companies, initiating income-generating projects during challenging times, promoting critical discourse about theatre and dance practices in South Africa, engaging in advocacy efforts while fostering collaboration among stakeholders, as well as supporting initiatives aimed at securing the well-being of practitioners within the sector.
We are currently seeking one additional board member for the STAND Foundation board, which currently comprises 8 non-executive, volunteer members, most from the arts sector. We are looking for a candidate with experience outside of the arts sector, who has a high level of skill in terms of Fundraising, as well as Human Resources and/or Communication and Social Media.
Board meetings are held monthly, online. Board directors are not remunerated and are expected to contribute to the organisation through active participation in the life of the organisation. There are ten Key Performance Indicators for board directors, which include a minimum 75% attendance of all monthly meetings and contributing to raising funds for the organisation by at least R20 000 a year. The qualification criteria for application is subject to the discretion of the Board.
